Breu explicació del projecte / Brief explanation of your project

The LIFE PRISTINE project aims to develop an integrated solution that eliminates different contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) from water.

These substances, of different origin, chemical nature and generated by anthropogenic action, cause growing concern due to the effects that their presence in the environment may cause on human and ecological health. The use of most of these substances is not yet regulated, in part because their presence is limited to very low concentrations that reach the detection limit of current techniques, making it difficult to take appropriate measures to protect human and ecosystems health.

LIFE PRISTINE focuses on the removal of emerging contaminants such as PFAS, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, toxins, antibiotic resistance genes and microplastics, in drinking and waste water. To this end, the project proposes a solution that integrates different technologies, including adsorption processes, membrane filtration, advanced oxidation and artificial intelligence tools, in order to eliminate at least 80% of emerging contaminants in waste and drinking water, with an operational improvement of 30%.
