Breu explicació del projecte / Brief explanation of your project

Housing crises are in evidence across Europe, but citizens aren’t waiting for solutions. From Barcelona to Brighton, people are creating new ways to secure homes through cooperation – think housing cooperatives, community land trusts, or neighbours pooling resources to buy properties together with shared facilities. Researchers call this “collaborative housing.”
The CollabHome project examines how these collaborative models actually work. Do they deliver affordable, stable homes? What obstacles do groups face? How do they sustain themselves over time? Our research focuses on Spain and the UK, bringing together insights from both countries to understand what works and inform policy makers and communities facing similar challenges. Understanding what works – and what doesn’t – could inform policy makers, inspire other communities, and help shape the future of how we create and share the homes that shape our daily lives.
