B-BRIGHTER Project will develop, validate, and establish a business case strategy for a novel light sheet-based bioprinting technology. In the frame of the project, researchers will apply this technology to generate skin, cornea and gut tissues as a proof-of-concept.
The B-BRIGHTER approach facilitates advanced tissue engineering, while monitoring the developing tissue in real time, in exceptionally high spatial resolution and speed using an original top-down lithography. This new technology offers extremely high stem cell viability, tuneable niche biomechanics, cell friendly extra-cellular matrices and high reproducibility. With these advancements, the properties of native tissue microenvironment components can be better replicated, resulting in high standard bioengineered tissues that can be used for biomedical research, drug discovery, regenerative medicine, and toxicology.
An essential part of the project is to establish relevant business cases to accelerate the commercialisation of the technologies being developed in the project. This radically new bioprinting technology aims to boost the performance of various engineered tissues which in turn will promote improved healthcare opportunities, as well as business and employment advances in the European Union and beyond.
