Títol del projecte / Project title
THERMOS project: “Thermal phenotypes and behavioural syndromes as predictors of resilience to climate change in European freshwater fish”

Número del projecte / Project number

Breu explicació del projecte / Brief explanation of your project
“THERMOS project aims to study the effect of river water warming due to Climate Change on non-migratory freshwater fish populations. For this purpose, this Action quantifies the extent to which the behavioural thermoregulation of riverine fishes is governed by specific phenotypes within a pace-of-life-syndrome (POLS) that provides vulnerable populations with inherent resilience to climate change.

The research will apply empirical and modelling approaches to test for thermal and behavioural phenotypes in freshwater fish and integrate these into a POLS that explains individual variation in their behavioural thermoregulation. The predictive models developed will support sustainable strategies to protect highly vulnerable European freshwaters and their biodiversity from the detrimental consequences of climate change.”
