Breu explicació del projecte / Brief explanation of your project
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing problem that threatens social development and human health. Infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria are associated with higher medical visits, more hospital admissions, higher mortality, and higher economic costs. Reducing the unnecessary prescription of antibiotics has been shown to be the most effective measure to curb the AMR problem.

The overall goal of the HAPPY PATIENT is to increase the impact of EU recommendations on the prudent use of antimicrobials in human health through a focus on critical interaction be-tween patients and healthcare professionals. HAPPY PATIENT’s main yet ambitious goal is to reduce the inappropriate prescription of antibiotics by 40%, focusing on common community-acquired infectious diseases, especially respiratory tract infections and urinary tract infections.

In the HAPPY PATIENT project, registration audits are carried out before / after a multifaceted intervention in four groups of health professionals: Primary care, Out of Hours services, Nursing Homes and Pharmacies. We are using the APO methodology (Audit Project Odense), which is a multifaceted intervention to improve the quality of care through a simple registration by health professionals before and after the intervention. Shortly after the first registration, the four groups of health professionals will be invited to a follow-up meeting where they will receive information from the first registration, to allow the identification of possible quality problems from the first registration.
